About Me

About Paul Pizzi: A Lifetime in the Game

My journey in golf began nearly 40 years ago as a caddy at a Top 100 championship course. I fell in love with the game immediately, but I faced a unique challenge from the start: I am naturally left-handed. Due to a lack of left-handed clubs at the time, I chose to learn the game right-handed. This dilemma actually became my greatest teaching asset; because the motion wasn't natural to me, I had to study and deconstruct the mechanics of the golf swing far more deeply than someone playing from their natural side.

Spending four decades at a premier golf club allowed me to witness the very best—and worst—of the game. I was fortunate to caddy regularly for Jay Sigel, who was considered one of the top three amateur players of all time and an eight-time winner on the Champions Tour. Jay was a massive influence on my understanding of the swing and the game itself.

Over the years, I have also worked with notable professionals, including:

  • Gary Player: I had the incredible opportunity to spend time with Mr. Player when he returned to the site of his 1962 PGA Championship victory. His insights on fitness, longevity, and the "total" approach to the game remain a cornerstone of my philosophy.

  • Adam Scott at the 1997 Junior Amateur Championship.

  • Laura Davies at the 2020 Ladies PGA Championship, where she made the cut in a major for the first time in 10 years.

I’ve been referred to as a "golf swing nerd," and I take that as a sincere compliment. I have spent countless hours studying the teachings of legends like Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus, and Gary Player, alongside modern masters such as Ben Doyle, Lynn Blake, David Leadbetter, and Hank Haney.

My approach combines technical precision with practical course strategy:

  • Deep Technical Knowledge: I have completed a certification course from Brian Manzella and will shortly have my PGTAA Master Instructor certification.

  • Adaptability: I have studied every swing method imaginable, allowing me to adapt my coaching to a person's natural motion rather than forcing a rigid model.

  • The Total Game: Beyond the full swing, I am highly knowledgeable in the short game, equipment, and the vital mentality required to manage a round of golf.

Why I Teach

For me, instruction is much more than a job; it is a passion. At age 61, I am hitting the ball better than ever, and I want to share that feeling of perfectly flushing an iron or ripping a driver dead down the middle with everyone.

I believe the reason many golfers stop progressing isn’t a lack of practice—it’s a lack of understanding regarding what to practice and where their specific issues lie. My goal is to change the perception of golf instruction by providing a keen eye that discerns exactly what your swing needs to become powerful, repeatable, and successful on the course.

Whether you are a junior focusing on the basics or a senior looking to optimize a long-ingrained motion, I am here to make your progression in golf rewarding and fun.
